Remove Unwanted Growths Safely and Quickly with Expert Cryotherapy at Dr Joelle Aesthetics
Cryotherapy is a common treatment which uses freezing temperatures to destroy abnormal skin lesions/growths. It can eliminate a range of skin lesions, including actinic keratoses (precancerous lesions associated with sun-damaged skin), viral warts, seborrhoeic keratosis (waxy or scaly lumpy growths on the face, neck, chest or back) and even areas of sun damage.
A Quick and Comfortable Procedure with Minimal Recovery Time.
Cryotherapy is easily performed by Dr Joelle using a handheld pen-like device which sprays the liquid nitrogen.
Clients may feel a little stinging sensation on the skin, like a stinging nettle. Cryotherapy is a well tolerated procedure and local anaesthetic is not normally required. The procedure only takes a few seconds, although the exact time required depends on the thickness of the lesion being treated. The process may need to be repeated once the skin has thawed out.
Immediately after cryotherapy the treated skin may be red. A scab will usually develop over the next few days which will then drop off over the subsequent few days to weeks. Although in the majority of cases the treated area will eventually look normal, there is a very small risk of discolouration or scarring.
Sometimes, a lesion will require several cryotherapy treatments to achieve the desired outcome.
A whole host of benign lesions can be treated with cryotherapy. It is however most commonly used to remove actinic keratoses (pre-cancerous lesions found mainly on sun-damaged skin), viral warts, seborrhoeic keratosis, skin tags, molluscum contagiosum and cherry angiomas.
